About Me

Hi, welcome to my site. My name is Dinesh Balakrishnan and I'm an Ultimate player/enthusiast. I currently attend the University of Waterloo for Accounting and Financial Management.

Ultimate is a fast-paced, high intensity sport that has recently gained a lot exposure in the international stage. I started playing Ultimate in 2006 and was hooked. Prior to this, I hadn't been very good at any sports and I was still testing different ones to see where I'd fit in. I found an identity with Ultimate and it stuck with me throughout my high school years. Every class I went to, I always had a disk with me to satisfy my urgent need to throw. I played for my high school team and gained a lot more experience (and friends) through the summer programs offered by the Toronto Ultimate Club.

During my first year at Waterloo, I played with the university's Open team in the fall term. We went to the Canadian Eastern University Ultimate Championships (Regionals) in London, Ontario, and qualified for the Canadian University Ultimate Championships (Nationals) in Montreal, Quebec. Rain or shine, I will always find time for Ultimate.

After finishing my first year at Waterloo, I came back to my high school to assist in coaching the team. I attended tryouts for touring teams (both mixed and open) in Toronto and found great friends in Tundra (Toronto's National level Mixed touring team).

I've also picked up with many teams throughout these years. I view Ultimate as not only a sport, but a networking opportunity.
